I built what I couldn't find
I started learning English at 8 in Brazil and after a few monotonous years, I got to a point where I could consume content. Later I lived in Germany for four years and couldn't string together a few sentences in German. I'm no polyglot; I like to experiment, to see what works for me.
My problem was always the same: understanding was easy, but producing something — writing, speaking from scratch — was hard. I needed more than a conversation partner, I needed different exercises to push me past the intermediate wall. That's why I built Languate.
